They invited a few friends and allowed me to present myself and my campaign for Congress. In visiting with people like the Tatreau's and talking to their grandchildren (Ben and Roxy) we see vital importance of education for a better future.

Deb Vyleta brought up the subject and the recent attempts to make educators more accountable, which needs to happen for public education to improve. Like in many other professions, union interests are entrenched in teaching. Education is only harmed by teachers unions because an atmosphere is created where teachers aren't held accountable for how they teach. Gov. Schwarzenegger realized this and I admire his courage to in putting union reform on the ballot in California last November.

Also, we discussed bringing more competition into education, via vouchers and tax credits. Letting schools compete for students will raise the standards of all schools and the skill sets of teachers. Thus, allowing education for all children to improve.

President Bush proposed bold new education initiatives in his State of the Union address and a more competitive school system would add to the level of math and science learning that President Bush proposed.

I've always been a leader for better education. The federal level is where the debate on education is taking place. Send me to Washington and I will speak loudly for the best possible educational reform.
